We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Medical Laboratory Technologist I to join our team at the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing laboratory procedures, analyzing results, and communicating test results to healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain laboratory samples from patients as required
- Perform laboratory procedures and analyze results according to established policies
- Prepare solutions, reagents, standards, and controls for use in analysis
- Respond to requests and inquiries for test results
- Communicate test results to healthcare professionals
- Perform routine instrument maintenance and identify malfunctions
- Assist in the evaluation of technical procedures and provide input on policy development
- Participate in departmental training and orientation programs
- Maintain inventory of supplies and ensure a clean and safe work environment
- Certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
- One year recent related experience in the designated discipline within the last six years, and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Demonstrated recent working knowledge of laboratory procedures and technical competence to perform tests
- Basic awareness of research process
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including effective communication and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload and work under pressure in a constantly changing environment
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Commitment to develop knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada
