Emergency Psychiatric Liaison Nurse Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Psychiatric Liaison Nurse to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide expert care to patients with mental health and substance use issues in our Emergency Department.
Responsibilities:
- Perform psychosocial assessments and develop care plans for patients with mental health and substance use issues.
- Collaborate with Emergency Department staff, psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
- Provide crisis intervention and counseling to patients and their families.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community resources and services to support patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing plus current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- One (1) year recent related experience in an acute or community Mental Health & Substance Use setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with patients, families/care givers, the public, medical staff and members of the interprofessional care team.
