Job Title: Community Support Worker

Job Summary:

BACI is seeking a Community Support Worker to join our team. As a Community Support Worker, you will work with individuals to pursue activities in the community based on their interests, gifts, and defined goals. This role supports individuals to become active members of the community, discovering and engaging with places of belonging.

Responsibilities:
  • Support individuals in one-to-one settings.
  • Ensure individuals are connected to friends and family.
  • Provide individuals with the opportunity to make meaningful choices.
  • Encourage and recognize individuals' contributions.
  • Ensure individuals are safe and promote their health and well-being.
  • Assist individuals to gain knowledge and experiences to enhance their independence and/or ability to participate in their community.
Qualifications:
  • The ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently is essential.
  • Experience and specialized training related to autism, medical needs, and/or challenging behaviors is an asset.
  • Knowledge and ability to use alternative communication systems would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of principles of Person-Centered Thinking and Planning preferred.
  • Working knowledge of computers/mobile apps is necessary.

For bona fide reasons, this position is open to female candidates only. This position requires union membership, completion of Criminal Record Search as per the Criminal Record Review Act and proof of COVID-19 Vaccinations. BC Class 5 Driver's License is preferred.
