Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance animal care practices related to feeding, housing, sanitation, and health management throughout the breeding cycle.
  • Assess reproductive status of animals and select suitable candidates for breeding.
  • Implement crossbreeding strategies to achieve optimal genetic traits.
  • Conduct thorough heat checks to identify breeding opportunities.
  • Utilize artificial insemination techniques in accordance with veterinary standards.
  • Develop and monitor breeding schedules to maximize productivity.
  • Oversee farrowing operations, including record-keeping and post-birth care.
  • Monitor sows and piglets during critical growth phases, providing necessary interventions.
  • Perform essential processing tasks for piglets, including vaccinations and health checks.
  • Apply veterinary knowledge to ensure animal welfare during breeding and farrowing.
  • Manage nutritional programs for weaning animals to promote health and growth.
  • Assess environmental conditions to enhance animal well-being, particularly during farrowing.
  • Implement strategies to minimize stress during the weaning process.
  • Ensure compliance with biosecurity protocols throughout breeding operations.
  • Identify and treat non-thriving animals, ensuring proper health management.
  • Stay informed on industry advancements to improve breeding efficiency and productivity.
  • Conduct daily health assessments and collaborate with the Animal Health team for treatment protocols.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry, or a related field.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.
