Job Title: Instructor English

Vancouver Community College is seeking a qualified Instructor English to join our team. As an Instructor English, you will be responsible for teaching students in an assigned field of study using a diverse set of instruction methods and tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver curriculum and teaching materials for English courses.
  • Teach students using a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, presentations, discussions, and hands-on activities.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, and community partners.
  • Participate in departmental and college meetings and events.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in English or a related field.
  • Recent experience in teaching English as a second language, with a focus on Deaf and hard of hearing students.
  • ASLPI Level 4 or equivalent, with the ability to communicate effectively in American Sign Language.
  • Experience in delivering relevant course content to Deaf and hard of hearing learners who have different educational backgrounds and various communication experiences or abilities.
  • Ability to teach English and other subjects using ESL principles and techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters of Education or Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Certificate or equivalent.
  • BC Provincial Instructor Diploma (ID) or be willing to pursue ID.
