Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Physiotherapy Assistant to join our team at Michael Garron Hospital. As a key member of our inter-professional team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support patients with treatment modalities under the direction of our Physiotherapists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with mobility and maintaining/improving their functional level
  • Support patients with treatment modalities under the direction of Physiotherapists
  • Work collaboratively with the inter-professional team to provide comprehensive patient care
  • Participate in health service councils and professional groups to contribute to a transparent culture of patient and staff safety

Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized Community College OT/PT Assistant program
  • 2 years acute care hospital-based experience required
  • Experience in medicine, surgery, and geriatric care required
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • Ability to modify interventions quickly in accordance with changes in patient status
  • Ability to carry out directions of therapists
  • Independent decision-making skills
  • Exceptional patient-centered care skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to function as an effective interdisciplinary team member
  • Willingness to participate/lead health service councils and professional groups
  • Motivated to practice in accordance with the mission and vision of Michael Garron Hospital
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and personal development

Working Conditions

  • Evening and weekend shifts may be necessary
  • Good work and attendance record required
