Job Profile:

Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Reports to: General Modality Manager

Supervisor: Nuclear Medicine Supervisor

Hours: Full-Time, 37.5 hours/week

Location: Rotating – Various Clinic Locations

Position Summary:

As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will play a vital role in our diagnostic imaging team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality Nuclear Medicine services to our patients. You will work closely with our team to provide precise and accurate imaging, minimizing patient discomfort and ensuring a safe and efficient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform quality control procedures on hot lab equipment and gamma cameras.
  • Order daily isotopes and other department supplies.
  • Draw, record, and inject patient doses.
  • Conduct patient interviews and record history.
  • Set up IV's and ECG leads.
  • Perform cardiac stress testing, MIBIs, or regular stresses.
  • Draw up cardiac stressing agents and antidotes.
  • Supervise patient recovery after cardiac stress testing.
  • Scan for a variety of Nuclear Medicine studies.
  • Complete paperwork, collate previous studies, and order X-rays as required to accompany scans.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Communicate with Nuclear Medicine Manager for vacation coverage, sick days, and appointments.
  • Manufacture, QC, and ship radiopharmaceuticals out of the Insight Radiopharmacy.

Requirements:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures and practices.
  • Complete knowledge of the images required for each exam by the Radiologists.
  • Knowledge of technical parameters for any examination requested.
  • Knowledge of exam storage and retrieval systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff members and administration.
  • Ability to make and implement decisions.
  • Motivated and self-directed.
  • Ability to perform and think clearly in any situation, including high-stress or emotional situations.
  • Clinical competency in medical nuclear medicine.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Committed to excellence in patient care, quality control, and adherence to diagnostic imaging standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment or to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Qualifications:

  • CAMRT/ACMDTT designation in good standing.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certification.
  • Current CPR certification.
