Associate Producer

We are seeking an experienced Associate Producer to join our news operation in Vancouver. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for contributing to the development of program content, participating in the preparation of program objectives, and directing live radio program teams in studio.
Key Responsibilities:- Contribute to the development of program content and participate in the preparation of program objectives.
- Direct live radio program teams in studio and obtain necessary technical and production resources.
- Assist in developing program and digital/video content, including writing, researching, field production, and editing.
- Prepare scripts and ensure adherence to program style and format.
- Maintain contact files and create content for digital social platforms as required.
- Participate in the evaluation of all aspects of the production and adhere to journalistic standards and practices.
- Community connections and a deep understanding of the diversity of perspective and opinion in Metro Vancouver.
- Familiarity with Black, Indigenous and People of Colour communities, people living with a disability, and other underrepresented communities in British Columbia and across Canada.
- Passion for the Metro Vancouver area and B.C. - both stories and issues.
- Ability to generate, pitch, and pursue strong story ideas.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a team and lead work groups.
- Strong writing and editorial abilities.
- Ability to work in a multi-platform environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Curious, quick thinking, incisive, and critical thinker.
- Innovative with programming ideas.
- Experience using social media to research, develop, and source stories.
- Committed to serving and growing audiences.
- Willingness to present on-air - an asset.
- University degree or equivalent, with a minimum of two years in a similar position - preferred.
