Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer for Inspection and Public Safety, the Telecommunications Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the division. This role involves managing the telecommunications team at the call center to ensure effective 24/7 emergency response services. The manager is tasked with handling incoming calls from various sources and directing them to the appropriate responders. Additionally, the Telecommunications Manager coordinates emergency communication efforts and collaborates with the Chief Inspector to supervise the activities of public safety inspectors and other personnel when necessary.

Service Mission:

To improve the quality of life for residents by ensuring adherence to municipal regulations and safeguarding the community with integrity and vigilance.

General Responsibilities and Objectives:

  • Develop work schedules for telecommunications personnel
  • Engage in emergency preparedness planning related to telecommunications
  • Oversee telecommunications operations during local emergencies
  • Ensure adherence to service protocols and standards in telecommunications
  • Create training programs for call center staff
  • Promote continuous improvement in work organization and service quality
  • Facilitate communication between the city's service requirements and other municipalities
  • Participate in the evaluation of new central technologies and coordinate performance assessments
  • Delegate and manage tasks among telecommunications staff while ensuring quality control
  • Perform telecommunications functions as needed
  • Oversee maintenance and operational programs for communication systems, video surveillance, fire alarms, and intrusion detection systems at the call center
  • Prepare administrative and operational reports concerning personnel, operations, and equipment
  • Research, prepare, and reproduce audio and video recordings for oversight and legal purposes
  • Carry out any other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
  • Fluency in both French and English
  • Proficiency in computer applications, office software, and security systems
  • Ability to perform under pressure
  • Demonstrated diligence, patience, and analytical abilities
  • Strong knowledge of the local geography and service area
  • Willingness to work various shifts
