Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Protective Services Officer II to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for providing top-notch security and protective services to our patients, visitors, staff, and property.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and prevent violence, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all individuals on our premises.
  • Enforce federal, provincial, and municipal statutes, as well as AHS policies and procedures.
  • Conduct asset loss prevention and internal investigations, gathering evidence and preparing court documents as needed.
  • Assess and mitigate risks, identifying potential hazards and taking proactive measures to prevent incidents.
  • Respond to critical events, providing first response and support to our staff and patients.
  • Collaborate with facility departments to develop and implement security and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, promoting a culture of safety and respect.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Active appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties, as identified by the Province of Alberta/Solicitor General.
  • Completion of the Alberta Health Services or Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Community Peace Officer Induction Training Program.
  • Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) Driver's Licence.
  • Valid Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (completed within 6 months prior to commencing employment).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years post-secondary education in a law enforcement or criminal justice discipline.
  • Two years related security/law enforcement experience.
  • WHMIS training.
  • Certificate in CPI Non-violent Crisis Intervention and Pressure Point Control Tactics.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Level C – AED certification.
