POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Electrician Technician is required to possess a valid Certificate of Qualification from the relevant provincial authority and must have successfully completed any necessary examinations. This role entails overseeing facility systems; executing both preventative and corrective maintenance, as well as routine and urgent services on mechanical and electrical equipment and systems within the designated facility, adhering to company policies and trade certifications. The Senior Technician is also accountable for executing tasks in alignment with established protocols and regulations, ensuring compliance with both internal and external standards, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection measures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In accordance with legislative licensing requirements and company guidelines:
- Operate and maintain facility systems effectively.
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
- Hold a valid Journeyman level Electrical license.
- Adhere to established processes and practices while performing work.
- Ensure compliance with all internal and external standards, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection regulations.
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance on facility mechanical and electrical systems, data network cabling, and fire alarm systems to guarantee operational efficiency and asset integrity.
- Provide installation and repair services for telecommunications networks, including inspection and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Document observations regarding facility conditions and recommend enhancements or repairs as necessary.
- Monitor assigned facilities through systematic walkthroughs and inspections of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical building systems and equipment, ensuring adherence to company policies and trade certifications.
- Manage the lifecycle of work orders, documenting progress and ensuring quality and compliance with contract requirements.
- Track and report on the status of maintenance and repair tasks, initiating necessary documentation for approvals.
- Assist in implementing a preventative maintenance program, ensuring deficiencies are recorded and escalated appropriately.
- Participate in facility-related projects as needed.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with corporate and legislative policies regarding environmental, health and safety, and fire protection.
- Maintain all assigned tools and arrange for repairs or replacements as required.
- Submit all expenditures promptly.
- Contribute to enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction through professional service delivery.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of experience in facility operations and maintenance, specifically with mechanical and electrical systems, data network cabling, and fire alarm systems.
- High school diploma coupled with trades training and certification or licensing.
- Strong ability to follow and execute processes related to facility operations and maintenance.
- Proficient in maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems within certification limits.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for resolving issues with building systems and equipment.
- Up-to-date knowledge of fire, life safety, and building codes, with the ability to research and apply relevant standards.
- Strong commitment to environmental, health, and safety practices.
- Excellent client-service orientation and a high sense of urgency.
- Effective communication skills for relaying information and feedback.
