Position Overview

B.T. Paving & Snowplowing Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Flatbed Truck Operator to join our operations. This is a permanent position requiring a commitment to excellence in transporting goods safely and efficiently.

Work Details
  • Work Term: Permanent
  • Work Language: English or French
  • Hours: 20 to 44 hours per week
  • Education: No degree, certificate or diploma required
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years in a similar role
Key Responsibilities
  • Load and unload various goods with precision.
  • Operate and navigate straight or articulated trucks for the transportation of materials.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of the vehicle, including tires, lights, brakes, and cold storage.
  • Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance on the vehicle.
  • Maintain accurate records of cargo, service hours, distance traveled, and fuel usage.
  • Secure cargo with tarps and ensure its safety during transit.
Required Certifications
  • AZ class license
  • DZ class license
  • Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration (CVOR) Certificate
Documentation Skills
  • Familiarity with accident or incident reports
  • Proficient in maintaining a driver logbook
  • Ability to complete inspection reports
  • Experience with maintenance and repair documentation
  • Knowledge of trip reporting
Equipment Experience
  • Experience operating dump trucks and flatbed trucks
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment such as gravel or dump trucks
Travel and Transportation
  • Local driving experience required
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and own transportation
  • Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles
Safety and Security
  • Must pass a basic security clearance
  • Bondable and able to provide a criminal record check
  • Driver's license validity and driving record checks are mandatory
Weight Handling
  • Capable of handling loads exceeding 45 kg (100 lbs)
Personal Suitability
  • Demonstrated reliability and commitment to safety
Screening Questions
  • Availability for shift or on-call work
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Proximity to the work location
  • Previous experience in this field
  • Possession of required certifications
