Job Title: Trainmaster

Canadian Pacific Railway (CPKC) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trainmaster to join our team. As a Trainmaster, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic within our road territory and yard-terminal.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop, organize, and execute the daily yard-terminal/road operating plan in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  2. Supervise operating crews, Yardmasters, support staff, and Assistant Trainmasters to ensure compliance with operating protocols.
  3. Accountable for inputs and outputs of safety, service, productivity, and financial metrics.
  4. Conduct efficiency tests, train rides, and safety-related activities to support a safe and efficient operation.
  5. Investigate safety rule and policy failures, and respond and act on safety, health, and environmental-related incidents.
Requirements:
  1. High School diploma or GED.
  2. Previous railway experience.
  3. Previous operations-related experience is an asset.
  4. Must be able to understand the Operating Plan and Local Service Operating Plan.
  5. Qualified Locomotive Engineer is an asset.
  6. Must become Conductor or Engineer qualified and occasionally operate trains.
  7. Must be or become rules qualified (CROR - Canadian Rail Operating Rules).
  8. Must maintain certifications and licenses.
