Job Summary: We are seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to oversee and manage projects that deliver fire protection for existing and new facilities. This role requires strong organizational skills and a solid understanding of detailed fire protection systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and manage project deliverables, including contract administration tasks for new and ongoing construction projects.
  2. Conduct site reviews of ongoing and final installations and provide construction review reports.
  3. Review RFIs and clarifications from contractors and provide responses, develop solutions, and issue site instructions.
  4. Review shop drawings from contractors for technical merit and provide approvals.
  5. Work with the client, contractor, and design team to ensure the project is on schedule and within budget.
  6. Develop, issue, and implement change orders/schedule revisions for customer-requested scope changes.
  7. Liaison with clients and project team for design and installation coordination, through regular meetings and site visits.
  8. Work with the design team to ensure drawings are accurate and complete.
  9. Prepare specifications and technical bid documents used for tendering projects to contractors.
  10. Conduct reviews of existing systems to gather relevant information for retrofit projects.
  11. Prepare conceptual and schematic designs for fire protection systems including, sprinkler systems, standpipe systems, fire pumps, and suppression systems.
  12. Conduct on-site commissioning of standpipe systems, fire pumps, and fire protection equipment.
  13. Prepare project proposals and engage with prospect clients to understand their needs and develop scope of work.

Requirements:

  1. Strong knowledge of NFPA 13, 14, 20 standards and Ontario Building Code.
  2. Fire protection system design background considered a strong asset.
  3. College Degree a must, Bachelor's of Engineering considered a strong asset.
  4. Minimum 5 years in the fire protection design & engineering industry.
  5. Minimum 3 years in the project engineering & construction project management industry.
