Culinary Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our Food Services team at Labrador West Health Center. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in preparing delicious and nutritious meals for our clients, patients, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
- Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
- Measure, weigh, mix, chop, trim, and peel food items
- Safely use a variety of utensils, including knives
- Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
- Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use various cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
- Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines
- Properly store food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
- Maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
- Adhere to Aramark safety policies and procedures, including accurate food safety and sanitation
- Assist other team members as required
- 3+ years of culinary experience required
- Culinary training and/or Red Seal certification required
- Experience working in healthcare considered an asset
- Knowledge of basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations
- Team player; must be able to work as part of a team and independently as required
- Flexible, as some evening and weekend work will be required
This role may have physical demands, including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
