POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Retail Sales Manager, this position is accountable for driving product sales and delivering exceptional customer service at the retail outlets of the Vancouver Aquarium. The primary responsibility of the Retail Sales Associate is to enhance sales by assisting patrons on the sales floor, recommending products that align with customer preferences, and processing transactions through the point of sale system. Retail Sales Associates are also tasked with ensuring the cleanliness and professional appearance of the sales area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Effectively represents the Vancouver Aquarium through outstanding service by:
Courteously greeting and assisting customers with product information, locations, and recommendations; Accurately executing sales transactions for cash, debit, and credit at the point of sale; Regularly organizing, cleaning, and maintaining the presentation and displays of the retail space; Confidently and enthusiastically providing general information to customers about the Aquarium and its surroundings.Actively seeks to enhance the organization and its operations by:
Promptly assisting in emergency protocols; Upholding organizational safety standards; Continuously improving our environmental impact and sustainability efforts; Demonstrating the organization's values and expectations for professional conduct; Performing additional duties of a similar nature or level as required.QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Minimum of 1 year of experience in high-volume retail sales; 2 years of experience in a customer service role or equivalent.Skills
Strong customer service abilities; Knowledgeable, friendly, and approachable demeanor; Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; Good numerical aptitude; Ability to thrive in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment; Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills; Calm and diplomatic when interacting with the public.WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to stand for extended periods; Capability to bend, lift light objects, and occasionally use low ladders; Regularly involves listening and responding to requests for information; Flexibility and availability for scheduling during the week, including weekends and holidays (occasional overtime during peak seasons).Please note that successful candidates must be available to work on weekends and statutory holidays.
HOURLY COMPENSATION: $19 per hour
