Position Overview:

Role: Heavy Equipment Operator

Type: Seasonal Employment

Location: Suncor Fort Hills

Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off (Averaging Agreement)

Shift: Day/Night Rotating Shifts

Travel: Camp accommodations and flights provided from designated hubs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate various heavy machinery including Lowbed, excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, water trucks, and snow plows safely and effectively
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment as per company policies
  • Conduct pre-operational checks and document findings in the operator logbook
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards within the equipment
  • Communicate any required repairs to maintenance personnel
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients
  • Engage in Job Hazard Assessments and safety meetings
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of experience operating heavy equipment with GPS systems
  • Valid Class 1 or 3 driver's license preferred
  • Physical ability to lift and maneuver loads up to 50 lbs
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to work shifts
  • Strong safety awareness
  • Completion of safety training certifications such as CSTS, OSSA, WHMIS, TDG, and First Aid
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing and fitness assessments
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
