Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Staff Software Architect to join our Buyer Experience engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with engineers, designers, product managers, and analysts to create innovative products that make a significant impact on one of the world's most trafficked and loved websites.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Technical Leadership: Influence and contribute to the organizational technology strategy, ensuring its adoption and successful execution within your projects/domains.
  2. Architecture & Engineering Excellence: Act as a change agent with a strong sense of ownership and innovative mindset, proactively identifying architectural opportunities, advocating and bringing forth better solutions, prototyping quickly, demoing and collecting feedback often, documenting well to get buy-in.
  3. Execution: Drive major projects and features across teams from the design phase to coding and testing, working closely with product managers, engineering leaders, and collaborating with partner teams to execute the product/technology roadmap.
  4. Grow Others: Coach and mentor others via formal mentorship structures or day-to-day activities such as pair programming, code/design review, and hackathons, playing a critical role in hiring and elevating team talent.
Requirements
  1. Deep experience building large-scale, high-throughput distributed web platforms/APIs serving millions of users.
  2. Exceptional development skills in Java/Scala and JavaScript, solid knowledge in GraphQL.
  3. Tracking records of identifying high-value, high-complexity technical problems, driving effective solutions that had a significant positive impact.
  4. Successfully forged alignment with senior stakeholders on technical direction for ambiguous problem areas.
  5. Developed and drove the adoption of technical patterns that significantly improved engineering practices across the organization.
  6. Strong sense of ownership, embracing differences and disagreement to get things done and move forward.
  7. Deeply care about growing others, great at mentoring and coaching.
  8. Bachelor's degree and 15+ years (or) an MS in Computer Science and 12+ years of software design and relevant experience.
