Job Title: Director, Data and Analytics

Alberta Innovates is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our data and analytics efforts. As Director, Data and Analytics, you will be responsible for leveraging modern data practices and technologies to transform how we view, manage, and use data for reporting and intelligence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead governance and drive organizational change to promote a data-driven culture
  • Oversee the implementation and operation of data management technologies, prioritizing data integrity, security, and accessibility
  • Develop and communicate strategic plans for data and analytics initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities
  • Provide leadership to the data organization, overseeing governance, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in data management, analytics, corporate reporting, business intelligence, or related fields
  • 5+ years of experience in leadership positions, with demonstrated leadership in areas such as data analysis, business intelligence, data engineering, or data governance
  • Proven record of successfully leading and developing technical teams, managing complex projects, and delivering impactful business outcomes
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Data-related certification (e.g., Certified Data Professional)
  • Combination of private and public sector experience
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableau, or similar
