About the Role:

The YMCA of Greater Vancouver is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our finance team. As an Accounting Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the cash management function, processing employee expense reports, and maintaining accurate accounts payable records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the cash management function by reviewing and processing financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Process and enter employee expense reports, ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts payable records, including vendor information, payment history, and outstanding invoices.
  • Reconcile vendor statements, follow up on outstanding invoices, and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
  • Apply knowledge of PST/GST rules and regulations to ensure accurate tax compliance.
  • Collaborate with branch administrative staff to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Liaise with banks to address account issues and queries.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to contribute to the overall workflow of the department.

Requirements:

  • Minimum two years of experience in an accounting environment.
  • Excellent data entry skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Accounting degree or equivalent combination of skills and experience is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of financial software, including Sage 300, Sage Intacct, or Accounts Payable Automation Systems.
  • Intermediate level MS Word and Excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work within a team and independently.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
