We are seeking a skilled and experienced carpenter to join our team at Westwood Finishing & Flooring Ltd. As a carpenter, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including preparing estimates, reading blueprints, and building foundations.
Key Responsibilities- Estimation and Planning: Prepare detailed estimates of labour and material costs for construction and renovation projects.
- Blueprint Reading and Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements and specifications.
- Construction and Installation: Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials to build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
- Finishing and Installation: Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware to complete construction and renovation projects.
- Maintenance and Repair: Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in various settings, including mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in the field of carpentry.
- Work Environment: Confined spaces, noisy, and dusty work environments.
- Work Setting: Construction, renovation, and various locations.
- Transportation and Travel: Willing to travel and possess a valid driver's license.
- Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling, combination of sitting, standing, walking, handling heavy loads, and physically demanding work.
- Personal Suitability: Reliability, team player, and punctuality.
- Are you currently legally able to work in Canada?
- Do you have previous experience in this field of employment?
- Work Term: Permanent.
- Work Language: English.
- Hours: 32 to 40 hours per week.
