Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee fourteen in-person locations, facilitating the creation and implementation of engaging physical activities, nutrition education, and health & wellness programming for children in grades 1-6 in underserved neighborhoods throughout the City of Hamilton.
  • Exhibit positive behavior management techniques and provide staff with mentorship, guidance, and constructive feedback.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously while showcasing strong leadership capabilities.
  • Foster professional and respectful relationships with colleagues, supervisors, school personnel, parents/guardians, and community stakeholders.
  • Establish a welcoming atmosphere for children that promotes daily engagement.
  • Ensure adherence to health & safety protocols within the program.
  • Assist in organizing and executing monthly meetings and training sessions.
  • Comply with all regulations set forth by the Ministry, School Board, and BGC Hamilton-Halton.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to take initiative in a dynamic programming environment.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A dedication to the mission, vision, and core values of the organization.
  • Good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators or Ontario College of Teachers, and/or holds a diploma/degree or is currently pursuing a post-secondary program in child and youth care, recreation or leisure services, social work, psychology, sociology, or kinesiology with relevant experience working with children aged 6-12 years.
  • A valid G-Class Driver's License.
  • A current Safe Food Handlers certificate.
  • High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development certification is an asset.
  • A clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Current First Aid/CPR-Level C certification (Red Cross preferred).
