Tsi Nu Yoyantle Na Tuhuwatisni Oneida Long-Term Care Home, a dedicated 64-bed long-term care facility, is committed to enhancing the quality of life for our residents through collaboration with UniversalCare, families, esteemed staff, and community partners.

As the Chief of Nursing Services, you will report directly to the Administrator and hold a pivotal role in overseeing the management and leadership of resident care and services, ensuring an exceptional resident experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Oversight: Planning, coordinating, directing, and evaluating all operational activities within the nursing department, ensuring alignment with the home’s strategic objectives, mission, and values.
  • Resident-Centered Care: Advocating for a care approach that actively involves residents, families, and staff to address the unique needs of each resident.
  • Human Resource Management: Supervising recruitment, employee relations, payroll, benefits, orientation, and performance management within the nursing department.
  • Financial Stewardship: Managing and monitoring the nursing budget and expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Quality Assurance: Leading initiatives to implement a Quality and Risk Management Improvement Program that aligns with the home’s strategic goals, focusing on continuous enhancement of nursing and resident care services.
  • Compliance and Record Management: Ensuring adherence to all relevant legislation and maintaining organized records for the nursing department.
  • Community Engagement: Building relationships with Local Health Integration Networks (LHIN), health service providers, and community agencies to promote coordinated long-term care services.
  • Health and Safety: Upholding the organization’s Health and Safety Policies and complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Qualifications include:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a managerial or supervisory role within a healthcare environment, preferably in long-term care.
  • At least one (1) year of experience as a Registered Nurse in the long-term care sector.
  • Strong leadership, financial management, and departmental coordination skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act 2007 and Ontario Regulations 79/10.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Point Click Care, and other electronic documentation systems.
  • Gerontological Nurse Certification (GNC) or equivalent post-diploma education is an asset.
  • A passion for promoting person-centered care and working with the senior population.
