About the Role

The University of Northern British Columbia seeks a highly qualified and experienced individual to serve as the Dean of the Faculty of Science. This is a key leadership position that requires a strong academic background, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of administrative experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Academic Leadership
    • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the Faculty of Science, ensuring alignment with the university's academic goals and objectives.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to promote academic excellence and student success.
  • Faculty and Staff Management
    • Lead and manage a team of faculty and staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the effective delivery of academic programs.
    • Recruit, retain, and develop faculty and staff to meet the needs of the Faculty of Science.
  • Curriculum Development
    • Develop and implement curriculum for undergraduate and graduate programs, ensuring alignment with industry needs and academic standards.
    • Collaborate with faculty and external stakeholders to develop and maintain high-quality academic programs.
  • Resource Management
    • Develop and manage budgets for the Faculty of Science, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support academic programs and initiatives.
    • Oversee the management of facilities, equipment, and other resources to support academic activities.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in academic administration, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong leadership and management skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
