Course Title: CHM242H5F Introductory Organic Chemistry I
Course Overview: This course covers the essential principles of organic chemistry, focusing on the reactions and properties of alkanes and alkenes. It represents the first segment of a two-part series required for students pursuing a major or specialization in Chemistry.
Estimated Number of Positions: 4 positions available, contingent upon actual course enrollment.
Projected Course Enrollment: Approximately 320 students
Estimated Work Hours: 30 hours
Class Schedule: To be determined
Compensation: Salary rates will be in accordance with the collective agreement.
Required Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Chemistry and/or Biochemistry is essential. A strong grasp of the course material is necessary. Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in Chemistry labs or tutorial settings is advantageous, as it ensures the ability to effectively convey course content in alignment with the University of Toronto's standards. Excellent communication skills are also required.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities will encompass conducting laboratory demonstrations, facilitating tutorials, evaluating laboratory reports, and grading quizzes and assignments. Additional duties may include supervising term tests and/or final examinations.
