Position Overview:

As a Personal Care Assistant, you will play a vital role as part of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team. Your primary responsibility will be to provide essential personal support to individuals requiring assistance with daily living activities and various support services. This role is crucial for patients (clients, residents) who need either temporary help or ongoing care, all while adhering to established patient care plans and organizational policies.

In this capacity, you will collaborate closely with patients, their families, and caregivers throughout the continuum of care, whether in home settings, community environments, or healthcare facilities. You will assist nursing staff in delivering routine care to address patients' needs related to hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety. Additionally, you will engage in organized activities or programs and will be responsible for observing and reporting on the emotional, physical, and overall wellbeing of patients.

Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will contribute to maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while ensuring effective communication with both patients and healthcare professionals.

Required Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, you must have completed a Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and maintain active status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. A confirmation letter from the Directory is required as proof of enrollment. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum may also be considered, provided they are in their first year of a practical nursing program or their second year of a baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program. Compliance with these requirements must be attested to, along with proof of qualifications.
