Position Overview:
The Senior Director of Support Services will report directly to the Vice President of Enrolment & Community Engagement. This role is pivotal in conceptualizing, establishing, and managing a cohesive presence for Auxiliary Operations within the institution. The Director will be responsible for crafting and supervising strategic business plans for Auxiliary Services, ensuring that the College implements comprehensive systems of service and accountability aimed at enhancing net revenue from non-academic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee Retail, Print, and Graphic Services
  2. Manage Child Care Services
  3. Coordinate Facilities Rentals
Responsibilities include managing contracts for food services, vending, and on-site film production, contributing to an annual gross revenue of approximately $4 million.

Auxiliary Services plays a crucial role in enriching campus life for both students and staff while generating revenue for the institution. To achieve this, existing services will undergo regular assessments, and new business opportunities will be explored and developed.

The Director will lead the department by fostering a supportive environment and ensuring operational excellence, thereby guaranteeing financial contributions and satisfactory service delivery to the institution. This will necessitate active collaboration with all academic divisions and service departments to cultivate a sustainable revenue-generating model.

B) Reporting Structure
  1. Reports to the Vice President of Enrolment & Community Engagement
  2. Direct reports include:
    1. Manager of Retail Operations, Print & Graphic Services
    2. Facilities Rentals Specialist
    3. Manager of Child Care Services
    4. Assistant to the Director
C) Essential Functions
  1. Provide strategic leadership for the Auxiliary Services department
  2. Identify and address the needs of students and staff while capitalizing on business opportunities with high-quality offerings
  3. Develop and expand business activities, pursuing additional revenue-generating opportunities with full accountability for financial outcomes
  4. Manage Auxiliary Services on a self-sustaining and revenue-generating basis
  5. Collaborate with the VP of Enrolment & Community Engagement to oversee risk management for Auxiliary Services activities, including process evaluations and business case development
  6. Ensure effective communication and coordination of decisions and processes within the department and across the College
  7. Develop and implement tactical and operational plans for the department
  8. Conduct market research relevant to business planning
  9. Negotiate service contracts to meet the needs of the College community while maximizing revenue
  10. Monitor and evaluate the performance of contracted service providers
  11. Contribute to the strategic planning of the Enrolment & Community Engagement Division and the College's broader strategic initiatives
  12. Prepare and present the annual budget for all business activities within Auxiliary Services
  13. Develop, implement, and review departmental policies and procedures
  14. Determine the optimal staffing structure to fulfill departmental objectives
  15. Lead and guide departmental personnel, ensuring effective human resource development and performance evaluations
  16. Ensure the department's business plan aligns with the College's objectives and policies
  17. Plan and ensure the availability of appropriate facilities to enhance service delivery and revenue generation
  18. Engage with the Enrolment & Community Engagement leadership team
  19. Participate in the Senior Leadership Council
  20. Lead College-wide committees or task forces related to Auxiliary Services
  21. Represent the College in relevant internal and external forums
  22. Stay informed about trends affecting Auxiliary Services
D) Additional Responsibilities
