Your Role
As the Lead Research Consultant within our Research and Innovation Services division, you will leverage your expertise in research to promote and enhance the groundbreaking initiatives at Stantec. This full-time position is integral to our Innovation Office, where you will engage with cutting-edge science and technology projects and facilitate access to government funding opportunities.
In this role, you will report directly to the Manager of Research and Innovation Services, contributing to our strategic objective of developing, promoting, assessing, and refining research services at Stantec.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide education to Stantec Canada on the strategic utilization of research funding programs to bolster technical capabilities.
- Manage the annual process of research funding claim development, which includes:
- Ensuring all team members understand and fulfill their responsibilities.
- Collaborating with technical leaders to identify eligible research activities.
- Consolidating eligible projects from various business units into cohesive research initiatives.
- Assisting researchers in articulating the eligibility of their work for funding.
- Evaluating potential claims to quantify Stantec's investment in research.
- Reviewing technical descriptions and completed claims for accuracy.
- Addressing additional research funding inquiries related to regulatory reviews.
- Implement research service programs based on your extensive experience in enhancing organizational strength through research.
Qualifications
Skills and Expertise
- Outstanding listening and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficient writing and editing skills, with a talent for assisting technical experts in crafting clear project descriptions.
- Strong technical background with a comprehensive understanding of advanced technologies across various sectors.
- Experience in conducting research within a technical consulting environment.
- Ability to work remotely, providing and receiving guidance effectively within designated timeframes.
- Capable of overseeing administrative functions while focusing on strategic initiatives.
Education and Experience
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
- Possession of a PMP designation or relevant project management experience is a plus.
