Position Overview:

The Employment Consultant's primary responsibilities include:

  1. Offering guidance, information, and support to clients regarding employment searches and career planning, including conducting workshops and outreach presentations.
  2. Providing employment services at various locations.

This role operates under the direct supervision of the CERC Coordinator and receives support from the Team Lead, functioning within the Employment and Training Department.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Social Services or a related field.

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with Employment Ontario Employment Services Programs.
  • Experience with Case Management Databases.
  • Proficiency in English; bilingualism (English/French) is advantageous.
  • Background in social services.
  • High level of computer skills (MS Office, databases, Excel).
  • Experience assisting clients facing employment barriers, including mental health challenges.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a range of personalized services to clients, including assessments, supportive counseling, and job placements.
  • Assist clients with career exploration, resume writing, job search strategies, and interview preparation through coaching and mentoring.
  • Facilitate employment opportunities by engaging with prospective employers.
  • Conduct monthly workshops addressing clients' employment needs.
  • Promote Employment Ontario programs and maintain current job postings and resources.
  • Organize information sessions, workshops, and job fairs as necessary.
  • Research new resources to meet evolving client needs and labor market trends.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources for appropriate referrals.
  • Ensure accurate and confidential record-keeping of client files.
  • Input service plans and case notes into the database regularly.
  • Support other organizational roles as required.

  • Effectively identify individual employment needs and provide suitable services.
  • Utilize community, government, employment, and training resources and labor market information.
  • Be flexible in scheduling to meet client needs, including potential evening and weekend work.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm and innovation in assisting others.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, time management, coaching, and administrative skills.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Understand labor market trends and community resources.
  • Be knowledgeable about social, environmental, and cultural issues affecting individuals.
  • Have a clear Criminal Record Check.
