Position Overview:
This role involves teaching a course focused on web programming, specifically designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of software development in a web environment. The curriculum covers essential concepts related to web-based program development, including a review of various technological options, in-depth exploration of specific technologies, and operational principles of the internet and web.
Course Content:
# CSC309H5S – Programming on the Web
# Topics include:
- Static and dynamic client content
- Dynamically served content
- N-tiered architectures
- Web development methodologies
- Security considerations in web applications
Teaching Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be accountable for all facets of delivering a university-level course, which includes:
- Crafting and presenting lectures
- Designing tutorials, assignments, assessments, and grading criteria
- Managing a course website
- Offering adequate support to students outside of class through office hours and online platforms
- Drafting TA contracts and overseeing teaching assistants
While there is ample opportunity for innovative course delivery, instructors are expected to adhere to the foundational content and style established by faculty members who typically conduct the course.
Employment Terms:
This position is governed by the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.
Preference in hiring will be given to qualified individuals who have attained the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III, in accordance with the relevant collective agreement provisions.
Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows affiliated with the University of Toronto are subject to a different collective agreement and should refrain from applying for positions under this agreement.
