About the Role
We're seeking a highly motivated and experienced Field Adjuster to join our team. As a Field Adjuster, you'll be responsible for managing, investigating, analyzing, negotiating, and resolving large and complex commercial property claims. You'll work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including counsel, consultants, adjusters, accountants, appraisers, and engineers, to confirm coverage, determine liability, and assess damages.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and investigate large and complex commercial property claims, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Engage and manage internal and external stakeholders to confirm coverage, determine liability, and assess damages.
- Mentor and guide regional file handlers to ensure consistent and effective claims handling and support long-term succession planning.
- Train colleagues on complex claims handling and provide technical advice to ensure best practices.
- Work with Underwriting, Loss Prevention, and other stakeholders to identify potential risks, hazards, and trends, sharing feedback and lessons learned.
- Provide excellent customer service to brokers, customers, and colleagues, ensuring a positive experience.
- Deliver key performance indicators related to loss development, loss adjustment expenses, claims leakage control, and expense management.
- Leverage expertise in a creative, continuous improvement environment to support best practice operations.
- Effectively negotiate claims when appropriate and attend settlement conferences and trials.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in direct handling of large and complex commercial property claims.
- Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position.
- Undergraduate degree or CIP designation (asset).
- Travel required, with a valid driver's license.
- Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
