About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Development Lead to join our team at Advance Venture Partners. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for leading the development of our Relationship Intelligence platform, which uses data exhaust from trillions of interactions between dealmakers to deliver automated relationship insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design and implementation of critical initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery
  • Ensure our software is architecturally consistent and delivers a snappy user experience, with a focus on high reliability, performance, and scalability
  • Collaborate with product stakeholders and subject matter experts to align on and coordinate change, managing data models that have touchpoints upstream and downstream
  • Research and propose new technologies or architectures that drive the team's critical systems, considering the larger implications
  • Mentor other engineers to uplevel them individually and the team as a whole, promoting operational excellence
  • Work at all levels of the stack, with a preference for backend development, and contribute to technical strategy and roadmaps on product-oriented teams

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3+ years of experience leading teams that deliver end-to-end systems
  • Comfortable troubleshooting across network, application, caching, queuing, load-balancing, storage, and distributed services layers
  • Expertise in one or more OOP languages and modern OOD, with some experience using Ruby
  • Ability to diagnose and improve performance issues systematically
  • Effective communication of nuanced ideas, whether explaining technical decisions in writing or brainstorming in real time
  • Strong ownership instincts and attention to detail
  • Strong convictions, weakly held, and assumption of validation and iteration as a given to produce the best results
  • Excitement to work on a cross-functional team, partnering with product stakeholders, other teams, and subject matter experts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Combination of startup and brand-name SaaS companies experience
  • Experience with event-driven architecture and Kafka
  • Experience with React and Typescript

Compensation

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $160,000 - $238,000 CAD. Within the range, individual pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant.
