Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Care Worker to join our team at WJS Canada. As a key member of our care team, you will provide support and assistance to residents in a residential setting, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor residents through the night and respond to any medical or behavioral needs that arise.
  • Follow established procedures and protocols for resident care and support.
  • Notify staff of any major problems or emergencies and respond accordingly.
  • Support residents with their morning and evening routines, including breakfast preparation.
  • Ensure residents follow house rules and regulations, and report any incidents or concerns to the program manager.
  • Administer medications to residents according to established policy and procedure.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation, including logbooks and incident reports.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties and minor building maintenance as required.
  • Comply with agency policies, procedures, and values, and use best practices when supporting residents.
  • Secure the building and ensure the safety and security of residents.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 months of related experience in a residential care setting.
  • Minimum of one year of recent experience in a community-based setting, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Previous experience with operating a licensed home and trauma-informed practice.
  • Training in substance use is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Housing First, Harm Reduction, and Employment First initiatives.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid, WHMIS, and Food Hygiene and Sanitation certificates.
  • Valid BC Driver's License and clean driver's abstract.
  • Non-Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certificate and Conflict Resolution Certificate.
  • Positive behavior supports experience.
