Instructor, Health Care Aide

Job Summary:

Northern Lakes College is seeking a qualified Healthcare Instructor to join our team. As a Clinical Educator, you will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction and training to students in the Health Care Aide program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group instruction in classroom, laboratory, and workplace settings.
  • Become knowledgeable of the Health Care Aide program and program expectations.
  • Use a variety of teaching techniques and strategies, including educational technology, to engage adult learners.
  • Provide students with accurate and timely information regarding courses and program.
  • Ensure that students are familiar with the content of the student handbook.
  • Establish and maintain a classroom/laboratory environment conducive to learning.
  • Provide opportunities for students' evaluation of instruction and make adjustments as needed in response to student feedback.
  • Provide access to educational resources and build a mutually comfortable working relationship with students.
  • Demonstrate a respect for individual differences and meet/communicate with each student on a regular basis.
  • Encourage peer support activities and monitor student attendance and progress.
  • Identify and assist students experiencing difficulties and use probationary/performance contracts as required.
  • Organize/facilitate student orientation to the college and program.
  • Ensure exam security, co-ordinate exam schedule, and organize/supervise exams as required.
  • Co-ordinate administration of course, program, and College evaluation forms, withdrawals, and registrations.
  • Liaise with student sponsors/employers and assist in promoting college programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and act in accordance with FOIP regulations.
  • Adhere to College and program policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Participate in professional development and annually identify learning goals and provide evidence of progress toward achieving goals.
Qualifications:
  • Must be a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Eligibility for registration for CLPNA, CPRNA, or CARNA.
  • Minimum one (1) year continuing care clinical experience in a health care facility.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to travel.
