Position Overview

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Southlake Regional Health Centre is expected to demonstrate clinical excellence in accordance with the standards established by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and our institutional policies. Collaborating effectively within the healthcare team, the LPN delivers direct patient care based on established protocols while maintaining a commitment to ongoing education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient-focused care within the LPN scope of practice
  • Comply with hospital policies and procedures, including emergency protocols
  • Engage in effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team
  • Work collaboratively with Registered Nurses and other team members
  • Participate in patient assessments and care planning
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff and students
  • Encourage best practices for safe and exemplary care
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in acute care or cardiac settings preferred
  • Experience with intravenous and CVAD maintenance
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities
  • Dedication to continuous learning and professional growth
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and resolve issues effectively
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills
  • Familiarity with Electronic Documentation systems
  • Passion for patient and family-centered care
  • Understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles

Educational Requirements

  • Diploma in Practical Nursing from an accredited institution
  • Valid LPN Certificate of Registration from the CNO
  • Current BLS certification required
  • CC1 certification or willingness to obtain within 3 months of employment
