Labourer - Roads and Drainage

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Labourer to join our team in the Roads and Drainage department. As a Labourer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled manual tasks, including construction and maintenance work on roads, pavements, and in street cleaning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and construction of roads, pavements, and in street cleaning
  • Act as lead hand on road projects, including installing culverts, regrading, and raking premix on extensive repair jobs
  • Use motorized compacting machines in backfilling and grading work
  • Assist in pipelaying and timbering work, breaking blacktop and concrete surfaces using pneumatic hammer and compressor accessories
  • Assist others in setting forms, mixing and tamping concrete, and assisting in concrete finishing for manholes
  • Perform maintenance and construction work on wire and wooden fences

Requirements:

  • Up to high school graduation and experience in general construction and maintenance work
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in general construction and maintenance work
  • Ability to perform a variety of semi-skilled manual tasks requiring the use of some independent judgment and action
  • Valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia
