Job Overview:

The Payroll Operations Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring the precise and timely execution of payroll for the organization. This position is integral to maintaining the financial integrity of payroll processes for both Canadian and U.S. employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll cycles for employees across Canada and the United States.
  • Generate pre and post-payroll reports to uphold internal controls, ensuring that all payments are correctly matched to recipients.
  • Conduct thorough reviews and reconciliations of earnings and deductions to identify and address discrepancies.
  • Analyze payroll results to confirm the reasonableness of gross to net pay calculations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll inquiries from the Employee Services team.
  • Validate the accuracy of financial postings and ensure timely completion of all entries.
  • Regularly review banking transactions to identify issues and collaborate with Employee Services to resolve payment reissues.
  • Liaise with banking institutions regarding payroll-related transactions.
  • Monitor daily interfaces to ensure accurate wage payments to Running Trade Employees (RTEs).
  • Process and reconcile all third-party payments, including tax payments and union dues.
  • Participate in year-end payroll activities as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
  • PCP designation or progress towards certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a payroll department is required.
  • Experience with SAP Payroll is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with U.S. payroll processes is a plus.
  • Ability to adhere to strict processing schedules and deadlines.
  • Proven capability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
  • Awareness of situations requiring high visibility and consistent communication.
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours to meet processing deadlines.
  • High level of confidentiality is required due to access to sensitive personnel information.
