Venor is excited to collaborate with Barrett Truss & Building Supplies in their search for a Construction Cost Analyst to enhance their team. Barrett Truss & Building Supplies has been a family-owned business for nearly a century, focusing on providing essential building materials, project cost analysis, roof truss design, and engineered wood product manufacturing sourced from the rich forests of Nova Scotia.

In the role of Construction Cost Analyst, you will report directly to the Building Materials Manager and engage closely with clients to assess plans and specifications, ensuring precise cost estimates for projects in both residential and light commercial sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Engage with clients to gather project details necessary for completing estimates and conducting take-offs.
  2. Develop comprehensive plans and specifications for residential and light commercial construction projects, aligning with client budgets.
  3. Calculate material needs for projects and effectively communicate the purpose and application of these materials to clients.
  4. Create detailed lists of materials based on blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  5. Comprehend and articulate building code requirements to clients.
  6. Foster relationships with both existing and prospective clients, addressing any concerns as they arise.
  7. Assist clients in-store with product selection.
  8. Stay informed about market trends and industry conditions to provide insightful product recommendations that enhance client quotations.
  9. Coordinate with the shipping department regarding client orders.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Proven experience in the residential construction sector.
  2. Strong understanding of the technical aspects of residential construction projects.
  3. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, estimating software, and construction management tools.
  4. Ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints.
  5. Knowledge of building materials and relevant building codes.
  6. Outstanding customer service skills, maintaining a professional demeanor.
  7. Capacity to excel in a dynamic environment and a willingness to learn and adapt.
  8. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  9. A diploma in construction technology, engineering, architectural technology, or a trade certificate is an asset. Experience in drafting is also beneficial.
