About the Role:

The Greater Sudbury Police Service is seeking a dedicated and skilled Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining community safety and well-being through collaborative partnerships, innovation, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use the latest techniques and technologies to assist in the prevention, detection, and reduction of crime.
  • Provide quality service within our community, drawing on your expertise and information to effectively address community needs.
  • Work in patrol operations to prevent, detect, and investigate crime, with opportunities for career advancement in specialized units such as:
    • Break Enter and Robbery (B.E.A.R.)
    • Community Engagement Section (C.E.S)
    • Courts
    • Criminal Investigations (C.I.D.)
    • Drug Enforcement (D.E.U.)
    • Financial Crimes
    • Forensics
    • Intelligence
    • Internet Child Exploitation (I.C.E.)
    • Professional Standards (P.S.B.)
    • Rural Community Response
    • Tactical
    • Traffic
    • Indigenous Liaison Office

Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have good moral character with no criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted
  • Be physically and mentally able to perform the duties of a Police Officer
  • Meet the minimum requirements for the Leger 20m Shuttle Run and pass a medical and psychological assessment
  • Hold an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (O.S.S.D) or its equivalent
  • Hold a current Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (O.A.C.P) Certificate or OACP Certificate Equivalency
  • Have a Fitness Log and Post-Secondary Education is an asset
  • Have demonstrated commitment to Community Mobilization and Engagement through volunteer work
  • Be able to meet Essential Competencies through school, work, and life experiences
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset
