Nurse Practitioner

Island Health is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Campbell River. This is a new position that will support increasing access to primary care and specialize in supporting our geriatric population.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess and diagnose patient status, develop and implement treatment plans.
- Diagnose and treat previously undiagnosed patients for undifferentiated diseases, disorders, and conditions within the Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice.
- Monitor ongoing care, order appropriate screening diagnostic investigations, and interpret reports to monitor progress and plan treatment.
- Communicate with patients and families about health findings, diagnoses, and priorities, outcomes, and prognoses.
- Prescribe medications within statutory and regulatory standards, limits, and conditions for Nurse Practitioners and within applicable Island Health and program guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals about health findings, diagnosis, treatment, self-care, and prognosis.
- Ability to critically assess and evaluate health research literature to determine best practices and introduce education and evidence-based research.
- Ability to assess and recognize population health trends and plan and implement strategies for population-based prevention and health promotion.
- Ability to implement and evaluate planned change, supervise others, and evaluate the care they deliver.
- Ability to lead a team and work within a team, self-direct, interact, and adapt effectively with other professionals in complex, dynamic situations.
This position will work with another NP doing like work, providing cross-coverage. The position will be part of the LTC call group.
