Position Overview
The Americas actuarial division at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is seeking a skilled professional to spearhead actuarial evaluations for our long-term North American portfolios. This role encompasses support across a diverse array of local and international segments:
- Construction Excess Liability (North America)
- Global Construction Professional Indemnity
- General Liability and Commercial Auto in Canada
- US General Liability and Commercial Auto (with a focus on International Accounts)
- Secondary assistance for North America Directors and Officers Liability
This position presents a distinctive opportunity to collaborate with actuaries and business stakeholders globally. The successful candidate will gain insights into various actuarial methodologies, commercial offerings, and regional practices. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting quarterly assessments of projected profitability and segmentation analysis to enhance understanding of relative profitability
- Calibrating annual pricing models to align with internal profit objectives and/or external benchmarks
- Performing periodic calibrations of excess models based on data curve fitting
- Collaborating with underwriting leadership on strategic initiatives
- Providing pricing support for significant individual accounts as needed
Team Dynamics
Our actuarial team delivers support to multiple Corporate Solutions sectors across North and Latin America. We partner closely with our business associates to provide portfolio management support driven by data-informed decisions. Team members are encouraged to take ownership of their respective portfolios, becoming experts in their products and advocates to senior leadership.
Candidate Profile
- Progress towards Casualty Actuarial Society credentialing is essential
- A minimum of three years of pricing experience is required
- Key competencies: Self-driven with the ability to work autonomously, organized with the capacity to manage multiple priorities, an internal motivation to advance projects and meet deadlines, a curiosity to comprehend the implications of data, an interest in formulating data-driven strategic initiatives in collaboration with portfolio managers, strong communication skills for engaging with both technical and non-technical colleagues, the ability to translate technical insights into actionable guidance, and creativity in approaching actuarial challenges from new perspectives
- Experience with Commercial Liability or Professional Liability products is preferred but not mandatory
- Familiarity with SQL, R, and/or Python is advantageous but not required
