We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Designer to join our team at Stantec. As a key member of our Community Development Engineering Team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality design solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Civil Design Expertise
    • Perform complex civil design tasks using industry-leading software programs.
    • Develop and implement design solutions for small and large projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Technical Leadership
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
    • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and those of peers, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
    • Stay up-to-date with regulatory policy and rule changes, and establish working relationships with regulatory officials.
  • Project Coordination
    • Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals to complete projects under the direction of a senior engineer or project coordinator.
    • Perform basic calculations to analyze and design civil system components using company-standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
    • Assist with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • An associate's degree or technical school diploma/certificate in a Civil Designer program with a minimum of eight years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take initiative when faced with a problem.
    • Working knowledge of general concepts of relevant areas of civil engineering design.
    • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team settings and to engage in creative and critical thought.
    • Advanced understanding of civil engineering concepts (e.g. grading and servicing design) and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
