Senior Systems Engineer, System Operations

Company Overview: EPCOR Distribution and Transmission Inc. (EDTI) is a leading provider of essential services in communities across Canada.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in Edmonton, AB. As a key member of our System Control Engineering team, you will play a critical role in supporting the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) and integrating advanced distribution technologies into real-time operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical input to System Control Engineering plans and strategies
  • Optimize the performance of the ADMS system model to ensure efficient and reliable operations
  • Analyze distribution and transmission systems to identify areas for maintenance and restoration efforts
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration
  • Lead initiatives to integrate Distribution Energy Resources (DERs) into our operations
  • Review and develop technical documentation for ADMS, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Develop operational documents and best practices for DERMS
  • Analyze operational system tools configurations and data to identify areas for improvement
  • Demonstrate a high level of technical expertise and a commitment to delivering high-quality results

Requirements:

  • Professional Engineer with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • At least 10 years of experience in utility operations or power system engineering
  • Working knowledge of ADMS and EMS systems, with a strong understanding of their applications and limitations
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
