Job Summary

The Nursing Extern Program is a dynamic opportunity for nursing students to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced healthcare environment. As a valued member of our healthcare team, you will have the chance to develop your clinical skills and work alongside experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, promoting independence and dignity.
  • Provide support to staff with patient lifting, transferring, and ambulating, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and safe environment, adhering to infection control policies and universal precautions.
  • Participate in patient care activities, including setting up patient rooms, assisting with admissions and transfers, and providing comfort measures.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to enhance patient care and communication, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
Requirements
  • Nursing students between second and fourth year of a College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) approved Baccalaureate Nursing (BScN or BN) program, or in their final year of a Practical Nursing (PN) program.
  • Recent patient care experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize workload, and commitment to customer service and teamwork.
  • Understanding of infection prevention and control practices, conflict resolution skills, and computer literacy.
  • Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for staff and clients within a challenging and exciting healthcare environment.
