The Government of Prince Edward Island is looking for a committed and skilled Senior Child Protection Social Worker to contribute to their vital mission.
This position entails conducting thorough investigations into child welfare reports, evaluating living situations, and formulating service strategies to guarantee the safety of children. The successful applicant will also mentor junior staff and work closely with community organizations.Key Responsibilities:
- Execute child protection investigations and evaluations in accordance with the Child Protection Act.
- Conduct interviews with family members and perform home assessments.
- Record pertinent information and complete required documentation.
- Collaborate with law enforcement in instances of physical and sexual abuse.
- Organize and participate in medical examinations for children who have been abused.
- Create service plans and evaluate parental capabilities.
- Represent the Director of Child Protection in judicial proceedings.
- Coordinate community resources to improve client assistance.
- Effectively manage caseloads and provide guidance to new personnel.
- Offer after-hours emergency support on a rotational basis.
- Perform other related duties as necessary.
