Alberta Health Services is looking for a dedicated and skilled neuropsychologist to enhance our vibrant senior health clinic team. The ideal candidate will deliver thorough neuropsychological evaluations and diagnostic services tailored to our elderly clientele (65+). Responsibilities include conducting assessments, overseeing a psychometrist, generating comprehensive reports, and providing insightful feedback to both patients and their families. Future prospects may include contributing to the creation and implementation of psychoeducational initiatives and short-term therapeutic interventions. Referrals for outpatient services are received from various senior health outpatient clinics. This role encompasses client care provision, collaboration with outpatient clinic staff, involvement in staff training, and mentorship of new personnel and students.

Description:

As a Psychologist II, your role will involve delivering advanced psychological services, which include assessment, diagnosis, and intervention. You will also provide consultation and educational support to the interdisciplinary team and patients/families, while offering clinical leadership and coordination within a designated program area. This advanced psychology position allows you to engage with teams to deliver and enhance services for patients with intricate and multifaceted medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental, and instrumental needs. You will be expected to consult, collaborate, and implement initiatives that ensure practices are evidence-based and adhere to psychology standards of practice, ethical codes, and relevant policies and regulations. Additionally, you will lead, facilitate, and/or engage in program development, policy formulation, service planning, staff training, quality enhancement, and research activities as dictated by the service area's requirements. Supervision of doctoral psychology residents, master's interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists, and other team members may also be part of your responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

A doctoral degree in Psychology from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program in an applicable area relevant to the practice setting is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Candidates must be active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Candidates should possess a minimum of one year of full-time supervised pre-doctoral residency from a CPA or APA accredited program, with experience in neuropsychological assessment and diagnosis in a clinical environment. One year of experience working with a geriatric population (65+) is also necessary. Proficiency in neuropsychological assessment, program development, evaluation, and applied research knowledge is essential. Experience in a collaborative, consultative role with a diverse interdisciplinary team is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with patients, caregivers, and team members are crucial, along with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates whose residency and/or post-doctoral training has focused on geriatric neuropsychology within a senior care setting. Experience in delivering psychoeducational services or brief therapeutic interventions is also advantageous.
