The Government of Nova Scotia's Financial Services Division has an exciting opportunity for a skilled Financial Services Officer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional financial services to our clients, ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Receive, register, and deposit revenues and expenditure refunds, including electronic, credit card payments, and cheques.
- Verify the negotiability of funds, ensuring that cheques are signed and dated, and payees are correct.
- Prepare daily bank deposits, issue receipts as required, and prepare related financial documents and records to ensure accurate receipt, completeness, and recording of revenues in compliance with Branch and corporate accounting policies.
- Reconcile accounts, prepare internal billings, apply control requirements, customer service standards, and best business practices to resolve problems and provide subject matter expertise and guidance to departments and agencies of the province.
- 5 years of related experience in a financial administration environment, or an acceptable equivalent of education, training, and related experience.
- A post-secondary degree with a focus in accounting/finance, or actively working towards a professional accounting designation.
- Proficiency in SAP Accounts Receivable or comparable large Enterprise Resource Planning Application (ERP).
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and reconcile accounts and determine causes of variances.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Good judgment to identify sensitive and/or urgent issues that require special handling.
- Ability to research, compile, and evaluate information in a timely manner.
- Ability to work in a consultative manner with internal and external clients.
