Aircraft Sheet Metal Technician Job Description

GAL AeroStaff Ltd. is a leading aerospace staffing company specializing in temporary and permanent staffing for general and technical positions in the aviation and aerospace industry.

We are seeking a skilled Aircraft Sheet Metal Technician to join our team based out of Ontario, Canada. As an internationally approved OEM service provider/supplier, we offer competitive salaries and a professional work environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, rivet, drill, and bond aircraft body, structure, or components according to specifications;
  • Read work orders, blueprints, and specifications to determine method of fabrication, procedures, and sequence of operations;
  • Cure bonded structures using portable or stationary curing equipment;
  • Communicate with other workers to fit and align heavy parts or expedite processing of repair parts;
  • Clean, strip, prime, and sand structural surfaces and materials prior to bonding;
  • Fabricate parts using metal fabricating machines, saws, brakes, shears, and grinders;
  • Assemble and fit aircraft and structural parts;
  • Perform subassemblies;
  • Align, fit, assemble, connect, or install system components using jigs, fixtures, measuring instruments, hand tools, or power tools;
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds;
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write the English Language at a B2 level minimum;
  • Must be able to work overtime, any shift, and weekends as required;
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background, drug, and medical screening, subject to TCCA requirements and random substance abuse screening;
  • Must have requisite basic tools prior to starting to work; tool list will be provided. Tools must be shadowed and engraved;
  • Must have a technical college degree in aerospace or equivalent;
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in an MRO.
