Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Glazier to join our team at Glastech Glazing Contractors Ltd.. This is a permanent position that offers a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week.

Qualifications
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years in the glazing industry
Work Environment
  • Work will be conducted at heights and outdoors
Work Setting
  • Involves various settings including commercial, industrial, institutional, residential, and repair work
Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and determine the appropriate type of glass, frames, and materials needed for projects
  • Measure, mark, and cut glass accurately
  • Position and secure glass panes within frames
  • Assemble and install prefabricated glass products, mirrors, and other glass structures
  • Install necessary hardware for doors and windows
  • Provide guidance and instruction to apprentices
  • Repair glass doors and various glass structures
  • Set up and dismantle scaffolding, rigging, and hoisting equipment
  • Supervise other team members as required
  • Transport glass cases safely
  • Utilize man-lift mobile equipment, cranes, and other lifting devices
  • Interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications effectively
Glass and Material Expertise
  • Familiarity with float glass and sealed units
Frame Fabrication and Installation
  • Experience with curtain wall systems and spandrel panel installations
  • Knowledge of aluminum framing members and entranceway installations
Glass Cutting Techniques
  • Proficient in using various cutting tools and techniques, including manual and computerized cutters
  • Ability to bend, edge, etch, and laminate glass
Specialization in Installation
  • Experience with skylights, curtain walls, and stained glass installations
  • Knowledge of commercial window systems and heat-resistant ceramics
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to handle physically demanding tasks and heavy loads
  • Comfortable standing for extended periods and performing bending, crouching, and kneeling tasks
Tools and Equipment
  • Must possess own tools and safety equipment, including steel-toed boots, hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves
