Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Portfolio Management Specialist to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Portfolio Management & Analytics team, you will play a critical role in driving business strategies, plans, and initiatives for Mortgage and HELOC Portfolios.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with stakeholders to generate insights and deliver judicious recommendations for portfolio performance.
  2. Develop and maintain scenario frameworks and readiness playbooks to assess performance benchmarks and identify levers for improvement.
  3. Monitor and analyze policy changes across the credit life cycle, with a focus on credit performance and risk management.
  4. Triangulate internal data analyses with macro-economic and consumer trend reports to identify customer vulnerability and maintain performance benchmarks.
  5. Assist in the annual planning process through thought leadership on implications to KPIs and risk-related metrics.
  6. Prepare deep dive analyses on key segments within the RESL portfolio, provisioning, and peer trends.
  7. Collect, process, and perform statistical analysis on complex datasets to inform risk decisions.
Requirements
  1. Strong analytical skills and ability to create and interpret information/data required to monitor portfolio performance.
  2. Proficiency in programming and/or database programs (MongoDB, SAS, JAVA, SQL, R, Hadoop, Python).
  3. University degree in relevant STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
  4. 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  5. Expertise and thorough understanding of credit and portfolio management, mortgage underwriting, and credit analytics.
  6. Good understanding of RESL products, systems, and channels, and the markets in which Scotiabank operates.
  7. Solid financial skills, deductive reasoning, sound judgment, and creativity.
  8. Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively convey information to various levels of management.
  9. Knowledge of credit risk management origination techniques and strategies in Retail credit.
